Actor Hafiz Oyetoro, popularly known as Saka, has recounted how a woman he once intended to marry ended their relationship because he could not afford two cars.
The 61-year-old made the revelation in an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo.
According to him, “The woman I wanted to marry insisted I had two cars first before anything. I had to end the relationship.”
Oyetoro added that despite being famous at the time, the demand was beyond his means.
“I was already popular when this lady said she couldn’t marry me unless I had two cars. I wasn’t even thinking of one, talk less of two,” he said.
The comic actor, who gained national fame in the 2013 MTN advert where he declared “I don port o”, went on to marry someone else.
He described his wife, Olaide, as “the best decision ever.”
He said, “I got married at 40. The only new thing about me now is that I pay school fees with grey hair. But I’m grateful. Marrying my wife is the best decision ever.”
Hafiz and Olaide Oyetoro have been married for over 20 years and are blessed with three children; two sons and a daughter.
The actor, who is also a lecturer at the Lagos State University of Education, said that despite his celebrity status, he has remained faithful to his wife.
“I’ve never had an extramarital affair. I don’t have it in me to chase women around. Even before I got married, I was not promiscuous,” he said.
Oyetoro also recalled how his signature bald look started. He said it began during his time in the university when he had to shave his head for a stage performance, and the hair never grew back.
“I shaved my head for a role in school and the hair never grew again. That’s how I’ve looked ever since,” he said.
Hafiz Oyetoro is widely known for his comedic roles in both English and Yoruba films and for his work in theatre and education.
