Musician Seun Kuti has asked fellow singer Wizkid to remove the tattoo of his father, Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo‑Kuti, from his body.
Seun made the statement during a live video on Wednesday amid their ongoing online dispute.
He said, “Wizkid remove my father’s (Fela Kuti) tattoo on your arm and replace it with your father’s head, if you won’t do it you will never use your hands to do great things in life, nobody in my family rates you again, You have Fela Kuti’s tattoo on your body, but you carry beef in your heart. There’s a difference between being inspired and trying to replace. WizKid’s real dream is to replace Fela.”
The disagreement started after Seun criticised Wizkid’s fanbase, Wizkid FC, for comparing the singer to his late father. Seun described such comparisons as disrespectful to Fela’s legacy and repeatedly told fans to “keep Fela’s name out of your mouths.”
Wizkid later responded on social media with posts and videos defending himself. In one post, he said, “I Big pass your papa. Wetin you won do? Fool at 40”, escalating the exchange further.
