Afrobeats superstar Wizkid has expressed pride in his first son, Boluwatife Balogun, popularly known as Champz, following the release of his debut EP, ‘Champion’s Arrival’.
The proud father was asked about his son’s music during a event and responded with excitement, saying, “We love it man, he’s my kid you know!”
Following in his father’s footsteps, 14-year-old Champz is already making waves in the Nigerian music scene with his five-track debut project.
Released earlier this week, the EP topped Apple Music Nigeria less than five hours after its release, making him the youngest African artiste to achieve that feat. It also charted in 16 countries and peaked at number 71 on the UK Apple Music Top Albums chart.
On social media, the teenager wrote, “11/11: The Champion has arrived. My debut EP Champion’s Arrival out now on all streaming platforms!”
The project, which contains no guest features, showcases Champz’s creativity and lyrical confidence. In his song Superstar, he opens up about lessons from young heartbreaks and promises to show love to his future children. He also insists that his lyrics are his own, despite being called a “nepo baby” by critics.
