Media mogul and politician Dele Momodu has criticised the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike over his altercation with a military officer during an enforcement exercise in Abuja.

A video circulating online showed Minister Wike in a heated exchange with a soldier who resisted his order to grant access to a disputed plot of land in the Gaduwa district.

The clash occurred on Tuesday when Wike and officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) attempted to access a plot of land said to be linked to former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo (rtd).

In the video, the minister could be heard telling one of the officers to “shut up” and insisting that no one could be higher than the government.

The video has since drawn public debate over the conduct of both men.

Reacting on Instagram on Wednesday, Dele Momodu blamed Wike’s behaviour on what he described as poor anger management and excessive drinking.

“He who the gods want to destroy, they first make mad. I had warned Minister Nyesom Wike endlessly about his lack of anger management but he never worked on himself… Too much alcohol is also not good for him physically, mentally and spiritually. It is the reason for his Messianic complex,” he wrote.

Momodu also accused the minister of land grabbing and the pursuit of wealth.

“When anyone has found favour and mercy in the Lord, he should learn not to play God… Wike has wreaked enough havoc in Abuja with his penchant for land-grabbing, and primitive accumulation of wealth, actually intoxicating him more than his alcoholism.”

He added that Wike needed the president’s pity and therapy.

“He deserves the President’s pity, and prayers, and an urgent therapy in a rehab. What a tragic hero.”
