Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike has extended his condolences to the FCT Minister of state Dr. Mariya Mahmoud following the death of her father Sani Baban-Koko.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his senior special assistant on public communications and social media Lere Olayinka, Mr Wike expressed his sympathy and offered prayers for the repose of the soul of the deceased.
“My heart went out to you when I heard of the death of your beloved father, Alhaji Sani Baban-Koko,” the statement read.
Reflecting on the late Baban-Koko’s character, Wike praised his legacy through the personality of Dr. Mahmoud. “I may not have been opportune to meet your father when he was alive, but it is commonly said that by the character of a person, one can know the personality of the father. Going by the character and personality of Mariya, I can conclude that Baba was a good man,” he said.
The minister acknowledged the profound pain of losing a parent but urged the family to find solace in the inevitability of death. “Baba’s family should be consoled by the fact that death is the end of all mortals, and it must come when it will come,” Wike remarked.
He concluded with a prayer, asking Allah to grant the late Baban-Koko Al-firdaus and to provide the family with the strength to bear the loss.
Baban-Koko died on Sunday at the age of 74.
