Actor Zack Orji has declared President Bola Tinubu as the most qualified among expected contenders for Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.
Zack reaffirmed his support for Tinubu’s re-election bid during an appearance on the KaaTruths podcast.
The actor attributed his endorsement to what he described as the president’s “competence, reform-focused leadership, and commitment to inclusivity,” pointing to Tinubu’s tenure as governor of Lagos State.
“I am an Igbo man. I supported Tinubu because, among the three presidential candidates, to me, he was the most qualified in terms of competence and capacity to carry out necessary reforms,” Orji said
“One of the things that endeared him to me was the fact that when he was governor of Lagos state, there was always an Igbo man in his cabinet.
“It tells you that this is somebody who believes in inclusivity — someone who believes in the Nigerian project regardless of your ethnic background. As long as you are competent, he will bring you in to work with him.”
Zack further noted that Tinubu stands out among his peers for mentoring individuals across ethnic lines.
“Among the presidential candidates, if you talk about someone who has raised people, he is the only one who has done so both within and outside his ethnic extraction,” he added.
Zack’s recent remarks align with his earlier position. In 2022, ahead of the official campaign season, he publicly declared his support for Tinubu’s presidential ambition at a meeting.
Tinubu, who won the 2023 presidential election under the All Progressives Congress, was sworn in on May 29, 2023. His administration has since introduced economic reforms including the removal of fuel subsidy and changes to the foreign exchange system, policies that have drawn mixed reactions. The next presidential election in Nigeria is scheduled for 2027.
