Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy has said he is not planning to start a family anytime soon because of his busy touring schedule.

The 33-year-old made this known during an interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra in London.

Asked if starting a family is something he would like to do soon, Burna Boy replied, “I don’t want to start that on the road. I’m not planning on quitting tours anytime soon, so I don’t know where to now put that; find a middle ground.”

He also revealed that he has not gone on a vacation since he began his music career.

“I haven’t gone on a holiday since the beginning of my music career,” he said.

The ‘City Boys’ singer’s statement comes shortly after he marked his birthday and released his latest album No Sign of Weakness, which dropped on July 11.

Just days before the interview, Burna hinted at the possibility of fatherhood while reflecting on his life during his birthday celebration.

“Na so jowizaza follow me talk the last time, I come dey think about my life. I don dey old oh, I for begin born pikin,” he said in a video shared online.

Despite that earlier statement, Burna Boy now says he is focused on his career and wants to be fully present whenever he decides to become a father.

Born Damini Ogulu, Burna Boy has become one of Africa’s most globally recognised music acts.

He won the Grammy for Best Global Music Album in 2021 for Twice As Tall and has continued to tour across continents since then.

His new album No Sign of Weakness features international acts like Travis Scott, Stromae, Shaboozey and Mick Jagger.
