Why I won’t serve in Tinubu administration ‐ Babafemi Ojudu

Babafemi Ojudu

Former presidential aide Babafemi Ojudu has said he will not serve in the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Mr Ojudu made the statement in a post on Facebook on Thursday titled “A Personal Declaration of Conscience.”

He said he has not sought any appointment and will not accept one.

“I do not covet any position in this government. I have neither sought nor lobbied for one,” he wrote.

He said his position is not new and has remained unchanged.

Ojudu said he remains a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and does not support moving from one party to another.

He described himself as part of a group within the party that speaks on issues when necessary.

“Loyalty does not demand silence, and patriotism is not servility,” he said.

He said his decision is based on his values and not directed at the president.

“I am not seeking a job. I will not accept one if offered,” he said.

Ojudu also spoke about a video shared by an associate which suggested he was seeking a position. He said the claim was not correct.

He said he has raised concerns on national issues in the past two years, including diplomacy and governance.

He warned against suppressing dissent, referring to Nigeria’s experience under military rule.

He mentioned his detention during the time of Sani Abacha, saying he did not give up his position then.

“I did not yield then. I will not yield now,” he said.

Babafemi Ojudu said he will continue to speak on issues while remaining in the APC.
