Why I took my husband’s name after marriage – Temi Otedola

Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, has explained why she changed her name after marrying singer Mr Eazi.

Speaking in an interview with the BBC on Wednesday, the actress said the decision was a personal one.

“I’m now a married woman, the obvious thing for me is to take my husband’s name. But it’s my personal choice. I also respect a woman’s ability to choose.

“Moving in silence allows you to build the story you want and share it when and how you’re ready,” she said.

Temi added that keeping her relationship private helps her control her narrative.

The 29-year-old fashion entrepreneur and Mr Eazi, whose name is Oluwatosin Ajibade, tied the knot in a lavish three-part celebration that spanned Monaco, Dubai and Iceland.

Their first wedding, a civil ceremony, was held in May at the Mairie de Monaco in Monte Carlo. In July, the couple had a traditional Yoruba ceremony at the Otedola family home in Dubai, before capping it off with a white wedding in August at Hallgrimskirkja Church in Iceland.

The three events featured some of the biggest names in fashion and entertainment. John Legend performed at the Iceland reception while King Sunny Adé thrilled guests at the Dubai traditional ceremony.

Following the wedding, Temi updated her social media handles to Temi Ajibade, a move that sparked debate online.
