Actress and producer Nazo Ekezie has explained why she has been away from Nollywood screens, saying she stepped back to focus on other projects currently demanding her attention.
In an interview with Vanguard, the 36-year-old said she has not disappeared from the industry, only that her priorities have shifted.
“I have a couple of other projects that I am involved in. You know, I have become a producer. It depends on what is calling my attention at the moment,” she said.
She added that acting has not been calling for her attention for a while now but stressed she is still very much around.
“I haven’t gone anywhere. I’m still here,” she said.
Nazo also thanked God for preserving her and her loved ones, noting the difficulties Nigerians are currently facing. She said her hope for the coming year is “to live up to my full potential and achieve more milestones.”
Nazo Ekezie, born in Anambra State, is the second of four children. She attended Federal Government Girls College, Lejja, Nsukka, before earning a degree in English Language and Linguistics from Ebonyi State University.
She joined Nollywood around 2009–2010, gaining early recognition with the film Thanks for Coming produced by Uche Nancy. In 2017, she won the City People Movie Award for Best Upcoming Actress of the Year (English).
In 2018, she launched Unoaku Production Company and made her debut as a producer with the film Flawed, starring Ebele Okaro and Mofe Duncan.
The actress has appeared in several Nollywood films including Blinded (2021) and Stuck with Us (2023).
