Why I found it hard to remarry after Ibidunni’s death – Ituah Ighodalo

Pastor Ituah Ighodalo has opened up about his healing journey and the possibility of finding love again five years after the death of his wife, Ibidunni Ighodalo.

The Trinity House pastor spoke during an interview on Nigeria Info, reflecting on the pain of losing Ibidunni, who died on June 14, 2020 while on official duty in Port Harcourt.

“When Ibidun died, I thought it was impossible because I had given her so much, I had no more love to give. However, time heals, and time compensates,” he said.

Pastor Ighodalo admitted that the idea of remarrying was unthinkable at the beginning, but over time he found strength and clarity. While he has explored the possibility of love again, he now leaves it all in God’s hands.

“A lot of people are putting me under pressure, but I am not listening to them. I am listening to my heart, and my heart says that it is still possible.

“I cannot say there is someone at the corner. I’ve been down that road many times. I believe in God and focus on Him. It has not been an easy decision. There are many things to consider,” he added.

Asked directly about new romantic interests, the clergyman laughed and said, “It’s hard to say.”

Earlier in the year, Ighodalo had debunked rumours linking him to actress Kate Henshaw. He dismissed the claims as unfounded, joking that he was not aware of any wedding plans or Aso Ebi colours.

“Whoever is spreading this rumour is making money from it. When they are done spreading it, they should come and pay tithe,” he told Upgrade TV.

Marking the fifth anniversary of Ibidunni’s death on Friday, the pastor paid tribute to her on Instagram.

He wrote: “Life isn’t always what it seems to be. Words can’t express what you mean to me… Even though you’re gone, we are still a team… In my heart is where I’ll keep you. #IbidunniForever.”

The post drew reactions from followers, many of whom praised his strength and continued devotion to his late wife.

Ibidunni, a former beauty queen and founder of the Ibidunni Ighodalo Foundation, was married to Pastor Ighodalo for 13 years before her sudden death at 39.

The couple had two adopted children.
