Why I couldn’t thrive in Nollywood – Cee-C

Cee-C Big Brother Naija

Former Big Brother Naija housemate Cynthia Nwadiora, popularly known as Cee-C, has explained why she believes she could not survive in Nollywood after gaining fame from the reality TV show.

Cee-C, who rose to prominence after finishing as first runner up behind Miracle Igbokwe in the 2018 edition of Big Brother Naija, said the sudden fame that comes with the show can make it difficult for participants to build the relationships needed to thrive in the film industry.

She said, “One of the disadvantages of coming into fame through Big Brother is the fact that it’s quick. You’re nobody today, and then tomorrow you go on the show, and then you come out, and then they know you. You’ve not been able to build relationships you need to survive in the industry.”

Cee-C suggested that the rapid transition from anonymity to fame leaves many reality television stars without the professional network that actors who rise through the traditional Nollywood route usually develop over time.

The reality TV star has appeared in a few film and television projects since leaving the show but noted that navigating the entertainment industry after reality television can be challenging once the initial spotlight fades.

Cee-C is a lawyer by training.

Since the show, she has remained active in media, brand endorsements and public appearances. In 2023, she returned to the reality television spotlight as one of the contestants in Big Brother Naija All Stars, where she finished in third place before her eviction shortly before the finale.
