Singer Baba Fryo has weighed in on the failed marriage between music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba and his estranged wife, actress Annie Idibia, blaming it on a clash in lifestyle choices.
Speaking on The Honest Bunch podcast, Baba Fryo said both 2Baba and Annie being in the entertainment industry may have made it difficult for them to maintain balance in the marriage.
“2Face and his wife, two of them, I will say they didn’t manage themselves well. They are both entertainers. Annie is an actress, and 2Face is a musician,” he said.
He explained that in a situation where one partner drinks or lives a carefree lifestyle, the other partner could play a moderating role. But that’s unlikely when both partners are in similar cycles.
“When a man is drinking, the woman will be watching him, and if he is drinking too much, the woman will calm him. But if you marry a woman who also drinks, when you’re both drunk, who will take the other home?”
The singer also said such relationships often result in insecurity.
“When a man sees that, he will become insecure in the marriage. And when he goes out and sees another woman with a different attitude…”
Baba Fryo further claimed that 2Baba’s current lover, Edo lawmaker Natasha Osawaru, is someone he knew from childhood.
“Even 2Face’s current lover, Natasha, is someone I have known. I had known Natasha since her early childhood and once carried her on his lap when she was just three years old,” he said.
In January, 2Baba confirmed his separation from Annie on Instagram. Although he did not go into detail, he said they had been living apart for some time, describing their situation as “painful but necessary.”
2Baba has since been seen with Natasha at events and in private gatherings, after confirming their relationship.
2Baba and Annie got married in 2012 and have two daughters together.
