Where’s the empathy? Moyo Lawal condemns sharing of Ibom Air video exposing passenger’s privates

Actress Moyo Lawal has condemned the circulation of a video showing a woman whose top was torn during an altercation aboard an Ibom Air flight, exposing her breasts.

The 37-year-old made the statement in an Instagram post on Wednesday, criticising both the handling of the incident and the people who shared the clip.

“What is it about, some service providers, not understanding that if you are in the service industry, you have to actually serve and not be so prone to emotional displays?

“Then the set of people, who are so comfortable sharing nudity that was not authorized just for clickbait and to humiliate the party in the material. Who are the people raising this kind of malicious people?

“Let’s not even talk about the sick people who share and save such materials. Those ones are not loved at home.

“Like I promise you, it doesn’t matter what someone has done to you don’t you have human decency? Don’t you have empathy??

“Then the set of people who try to justify how a person dresses or was dressed as justification for such an act, whew, majority of us are not getting trained at home.

“We honestly need to find a way to include anger management in our lives, so many hurt and angry people just waiting to explode,” she wrote.

In her caption, Moyo added: “If you easily get provoked, please do not do a service job. How are we generally so malicious yet so religious??”

Some social media users backed her view, with one commenting, “Very important” and another adding, “It is well. Comfort will be fine.” Others criticised her, with one writing, “You know a lot about sharing nudity tho,” and another saying, “Have you seen her IG reels and photos, she is not shy.”

The Ibom Air incident happened on Monday after a passenger refused to comply with in-flight safety instructions, including switching off a mobile phone during landing. The exchange escalated and security operatives dragged her out of the aircraft. In the process, her crop top was torn, exposing her privates.

Aviation Security (AVSEC) officials stepped in to separate the parties and restore order. The passenger was later dragged off the tarmac into an airport bus after refusing to leave voluntarily.

Moyo’s comments come nearly two years after she faced her own privacy breach when a sex tape featuring her and her ex-fiancé leaked online in October 2023.

Reacting at the time, she wrote: “A private video of mine from a while ago has been inappropriately shared without consent, violating my trust and privacy. I want to emphasize that this video done with my ex I was to marry at that time was never intended for public consumption and its unauthorized distribution is a breach of personal boundaries. This criminal breach of privacy will definitely be treated with legal action.”
