We were together till 11pm, Kehinde Adegbodu recalls final moments with twin Taiwo

Taiwo Adegbodu

Gospel singer Kehinde Adegbodu has penned an emotional tribute to his late twin brother Taiwo Adegbodu.

In a post shared on the Adegbodu Twins’ Facebook page on Saturday, Kehinde posted old pictures of Taiwo and reflected on the loss of his brother and music partner.

The tribute read:

“Hmmmmm TAYELOLU MI AMOLE, onilọ̀kọ́ ọmọ arélù
Ẹrúmọsá ọmọ atẹko bẹ́wọn lorí sẹsẹ, onílọ̀kọ́ táa ní o jade ọ̀sán ko wo eniire kó mú pa, eniire kọ̀ wọn o jáde idà ilọ̀kọ́ kọ̀ won ò wàkọ̀, tẹ̀ẹ̀tú ò jọ́ba lẹ́rọ̀ ọmọ akẹtà lọnà òsì, bẹ́rí onílọ̀kọ́ ní ẹ má bẹ́ sìgo sìgo lèèwọ̀ ọmọ akẹtà lọ́nà òsì, onílọ̀kọ́ táa ní a fẹ́ bẹ́ lórí tó kọ ẹsẹ̀ sókè, orí laá bẹ́ ni àbí ẹsẹ, ǹlẹ́ ọmọ ajọ́ba ló lele.

“By this time last week sat u were still alive and very active, we were together till 11pm before you left suddenly.

“So it’s already 8 days without you my best friend,
Its already 8 days you choose to stay alone in the morgue without telling me u’re going.

“So i won’t see you anymore, so i won’t hear your powerful vocal voice again but you suppose to know that i will miss you a lot.

” ỌLỌ́RUN MA TOBI O, PLEASE SIR T YOU MUST DO EVERYTHING TO BECOME NUMBER ONE CHOIR MASTER IN HEAVEN and you must be with me in spirit to take care of the kids, wife and band members.

“Now i understand the reason why you always tell me i can do it, now i know why you sometimes tell our manager we can attend two shows at a time.
Ha, SIR T… O DAJU MI OOOO!!!

“But i promise never to disappoint you in every area, and am sure you will stay with me forever till we meet again up there. IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL!”

Taiwo died on March 1 at the age of 46. The cause of his death has not been made public.

He was one half of the gospel music duo Adegbodu Twins, which he formed with his brother Kehinde. The pair became known in the Yoruba gospel music scene after releasing their debut album Faratimi (Lean on Me) in 1999.

Over the years, the twins performed at churches, crusades and Christian events across the country.

The family announced that an artistes night will hold on March 30 at Bollads Event Centre, Akala Express, Ibadan, while the burial service is scheduled for March 31 at his residence.
