Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has revealed that the players are yet to receive the $100,000 each promised by the Federal Government after their triumph at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
Ajibade made the disclosure during an interview with #WithChude, adding that she believes the payment will be made soon.
“We have not received the $100,000 that was promised by the government. Hopefully, I believe they will pay soon. A lot of people are already on my neck asking for their percentage. We are yet to receive any of the promises,” she said.
President Bola Tinubu had on Monday, July 28, hosted the team at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, following their 3–2 victory over host nation Morocco in the final, a win that secured Nigeria a record-extending 10th WAFCON title.
At the event, Tinubu conferred the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on all 24 players and the 11-member technical crew.
He also announced a monetary reward of $100,000 (in naira equivalent) for each player and $50,000 for each technical crew member, along with a three-bedroom flat for every team member.
The announcement was widely hailed as one of the most generous gestures in Nigerian sports history.
