We did not arrest her, Ogun Police deny arrest of TikToker Mirabel

Raped TikToker Mirabel

The Ogun State Police Command has denied reports that a TikToker, known as Mirabel, has been arrested.

Mirabel claimed in a video that she was sexually assaulted by an unidentified man on Sunday, February 8.

The video went viral under the hashtag #StopRapingWomen, prompting calls for the alleged assailant’s arrest and prosecution.

Some reports circulating online suggested that police had determined her claims were false and that she had been arrested for misleading the public.

Reacting on Thursday, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi said the case is still under investigation.

He added that Mirabel is not in custody and has not been arrested.

“The case is still under investigation, and in due time, we will get to know whether it is true or false, but for now, we are still investigating,” Babaseyi said.

“We did not arrest her, so she is not in custody. When there is an arrest, we will make it public.”

DSP Babaseyi said Mirabel voluntarily came to the police station to report her case.

Because of her condition, a formal interrogation was not conducted. She was taken to a hospital, where she is receiving medical care.

“She is not really stable as expected. She was taken to the hospital and currently undergoing treatment.”

Earlier, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) confirmed that it had passed all relevant information to the appropriate authorities in Ogun State, as the case falls outside its jurisdiction.
