Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state are still unsettled over the outcome of the 2023 presidential election in Lagos, describing the result of the party’s candidate Bola Tinubu as disappointing.

Governor Sanwo-Olu spoke on Tuesday through his Chief of Staff Tayo Ayinde during a Ramadan lecture organised by the party in Lagos.

The event brought together party members for prayers and discussions as they began preparations for the 2027 elections.

Addressing supporters, Mr Ayinde urged members to register and collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), saying participation would be important in future elections.

He said the outcome of the 2023 presidential election in Lagos should not be repeated.

Quoting the governor, he said, “Don’t let things be like the last time, we all must get our PVCs, because what happened the last time was not good enough, and we are still ashamed of it.

“I am serious; we are honestly still ashamed of it. But for things not to go that route, we all must equip ourselves with our PVCs ahead of the elections.”

Sanwo-Olu said the party must begin early preparations to improve its performance in the next general election.

He also linked the performance of the current federal administration to the chances of President Tinubu securing another term, saying progress at the national level would depend on the party winning the next presidential election.

Also speaking, Lagos APC chairman Cornelius Ojelabi, represented by Muyideen Daromola, urged Muslim faithful to sustain the values observed during Ramadan.
