Comedian Bovi Ugboma has opened up about his relationship with fellow comedian Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth, saying there is no bad blood between them.
While they used to collaborate more, Bovi explained that they now focus on their own shows.
In an interview, Bovi clarified that there is no animosity between him and Basketmouth. He explained that his decision to focus more on his family and pursue interests in filmmaking and television led to a shift in his priorities.
He stated, “We are cool. Nothing happened (between us). Interests changed, especially for me. I wanted to focus, spend more time with family. I wanted to also elevate myself.”
Bovi further elaborated on his evolving interests, saying, “I easily get bored with things. When I am doing something for too long I try to do something else. As you know I started to do film. As you know I went back to TV. I wanted to build my own brand.”
He also expressed a desire for independence in his career, stating, “I needed the world to know that I can stand with the mic endlessly and talk. I also started to think that when I blow the whistle and host shows at Eko Hotels, it fills up, why should I go and share money? Why should we be many and do one show?”
This sentiment echoes comments Bovi made in 2023, where he mentioned that the closeness between him and Basketmouth reduced because he wanted to grow his brand and focus more on himself.
Despite their reduced collaboration, Bovi emphasized that there is no ill will between them.
