Singer Akinmayokun Awodumila, better known as May D, has stirred social media reactions after a video of him performing in the streets of Lagos surfaced online.
In the viral clip, the ‘Ile Ijo’ crooner is seen entertaining a small group of people sitted on plastic chairs with others standing. The scene left many online users shocked, considering his past fame and association with afrobeats stars Peter and Paul Okoye popularly known by their defunct group P-Square.
Some of the reactions read:
“As long as he his not begging.. I hope things get better for him,” one wrote.
“Na to just carry am go chop Amala after the performance then dash am 1k for tfare,” another added.
“If fall off was a person,” one commented.
“This is one of the reason I don’t blame Portable when he cause chaos cause things like that keep him relevant on internet, this one been go relax after he feature p square,” one stated.
“omo see Lyta too. May D used to roll with afrobeats legend, P square. what happened to Lyta and May D?” one asked.
May D, 40, shot into the limelight after signing to Square Records in 2011. He featured on the remix of ‘Chop My Money’ alongside P-Square and Akon but later left the label in 2012.
In an interview earlier this year, he claimed that his fallout with P-Square began after he disclosed Akon’s interest in signing him.
The singer also said he was once “bigger than Wizkid and Davido” at the height of his career but admitted mistakes stalled his growth.
