Celebrity fashion designer Veekee James has sparked reactions on social media after unveiling a 20-foot-tall birthday cake reportedly worth N18 million at her grand 30th birthday celebration.
The fashion entrepreneur turned 30 on Monday and hosted a lavish soiree attended by several personalities from the entertainment and fashion industries.
Among those present were Eucharia Anunobi, Moses Bliss, Mai Atafo, Osas Ighodaro, Iyabo Ojo, Liquorose, Saga Adeolu, Yhemo Lee and his wife Thayour, TikToker Peller and his girlfriend Jarvis, Akin Faminu, chef Hilda Baci, Juliana Olayode and others.
A major highlight of the night was the unveiling of her towering birthday cake.
Speaking about the cake, the baker described it as the tallest in Africa and revealed that it cost N18 million to make.
The cake sparked mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing disbelief over the amount spent.
One Instagram user wrote, “Hmm, God have mercy on me. Am not asking for too much.”
Another added, “Na im make Tinubu no believe say suffer dey.”
“Na wa o, some people sabi waste money. Everything sef no be cake. Well, we shall never be poor, Amen,” someone else commented.
“Money wey I go use buy land,” another wrote.
“She spent 18 million to do a birthday cake just to impress people,” read one more comment.
Earlier this year, Veekee James and her husband Femi Atere celebrated their first wedding anniversary with a series of posts and stylish photoshoots that drew praise from fans.
The couple marked their civil wedding anniversary on February 1, followed by their traditional anniversary on February 8.
The celebrations included matching outfits, romantic tributes and spiritual reflections, which Veekee shared on her Instagram page.
In one post, she described Femi as “life’s best gift to me” and thanked God for sustaining their union.
Veekee and Femi tied the knot in 2024 in a series of ceremonies that captivated many online. Their wedding included a traditional ceremony in Akwa Ibom, a white wedding in Lagos and a glamorous reception.
