Entertainers Bisola Aiyeola, Uzor Arukwe, Ruth Kadiri, Omowumi Dada and AY Makun were among industry figures who attended the premiere of EVI, the new film by Judith Audu.
The premiere was held on Sunday at IMAX cinemas in Lagos. The event began with a red carpet and was followed by a full screening that continued late into the night.
Other guests at the event included NFVCB executive director Shaibu Husseini, QEDng publisher Olumide Iyanda, Baba Rex, Mercy Aigbe, Kamo State, Michael Ejoor, VJ Adams and Elozonam.
Speaking at the screening, Audu thanked those involved in the film and spoke about a challenge the production faced just before filming began.
“I am so grateful to be here. Uyi, we did it!. Another thing, we lost a major investor when we were about to start the production of the show. How we did it, to be able to finish the project, I don’t know, it is a miracle,” she said.
EVI is produced by Judith Audu through her production company, Judith Audu Productions, in partnership with Switch Visuals Productions, Signet Rings Productions and NOI Productions. The film was written and directed by Uyoyou Adia. Executive producers include Mimah Keiko, Damilola Osikoya, Omowunmi Dada, Patricia Corlet Akugha, Nehita Ofure Irieme, Adia and Audu herself.
The film is scheduled for cinema release across Nigeria on March 27.
EVI tells the story of Evi‑Oghene Donalds, a gifted musician whose life changes when her record label cuts ties without compensation. Stripped of fame and financial security, she must rebuild her life while confronting personal flaws and the realities of the music industry. The narrative explores themes of resilience, redemption and self‑discovery.
The film stars Osas Okonyon in the lead role, alongside Uzor Arukwe, Omowunmi Dada, Ibrahim Suleiman, Waje Iruobe, Tomiwa Tegbe and Femi Branch. The story blends drama with original music that reflects the emotional journey of the characters, and the film’s official soundtrack was released ahead of the cinema debut.
