United Capital releases names, pictures of staff lost in Afriland Tower fire

United Capital Plc has released the names and pictures of six staff members who died in the fire incident at Afriland Towers in Lagos on Tuesday, September 16.

In a statement posted on social media on Monday, the company listed the deceased as Jesutoni Shodipo, Kehinde Adeoye, Ndidi Osaemedike-Okeke, Olumide Oyefodunrin, Opeyemi Oloyede and Rebecca Adenuga.

“Forever in our hearts 🤍 Today, we come together as one family to honour the memory of our dearly departed colleagues,” the company wrote.

“Though they are no longer with us, the moments we shared remain deeply etched in our hearts. Together with their families, friends, and loved ones, we will celebrate their lives, reflect on their impact, and honour the legacies they leave behind.”

The firm said preparations are underway for a memorial service in their honour.

Heirs Holdings, the parent company of both Afriland Properties and United Capital, also issued a condolence message.

It stated, “Today, we join our colleagues at United Capital Plc, in honouring the legacy of our dearly departed colleagues. Although it is painful to say goodbye, we remember them fondly for the wonderful memories they left behind. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families, friends, and the entire United Capital team.”

The Afriland Tower fire claimed 10 lives, including four personnel of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

The building also houses offices of the United Bank for Africa, FIRS and United Capital Plc.
