Unilorin Alumni Association elects national officials

Members of the Unilorin Alumni Association on Saturday, November 14 elected new executives to steer their affairs at the 12th National Congress held at the University of Ilorin.

Welcoming alumnus to the Congress, Vice Chancellor of University of Ilorin, Prof. Abdul-Ganiyu Ambali, reiterated the role of the association as a critical stakeholder in the university’s developmental process. He stated that its support is critical to the conceptualisation as well as effective implementation of reforms which could exert a considerable amount of influence that would keep elevating the university’s status.

The Congress featured presentation of reports from the president and secretary as they took turn to highlight the achievements of the outgoing administration which included the completion and commissioning of a 20-room female hostel. Financial reports were presented by the financial secretary and auditors of the association.

The newly elected President, Dr. Rhoda Olape Oduwaiye is a lecturer in the department of Educational Management at the University of Ilorin. Dr. Musa Abdullah the 1st Vice President is Provost College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies, Ilorin. Mr. Wale Fasakin the 2nd Vice President is the MD/CEO Wale-Fash Resources Ltd., Dr. Mahfouz A. Adedimeji the Secretary General is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ilorin. Barrister Agboke Mutiu the Assistant Secretary General is the Managing Partner of RRA & Associates, Harmony chambers in Abeokuta. Mr. Nesta Taiwo Oluwatoba the Treasurer is a Civil Servant in the service of Ondo State Government.

The Public Relations Officer Mrs. Oluwayemisi Mafe is a Marketing Communications professional based in Lagos. Alhaji Abbas Olanrele Mohammed the Financial Secretary is a Deputy Director with Kwara State Teaching Service Commission.  The Social Secretary, Dr. Lateef Folorunsho Oladimeji is a senior lecturer and Director of Information at Al Hikmah University, Ilorin. Dr. Oparinde Olayiwola Rauf elected as Auditor 1 is the Deputy Registrar at Osun State College of Education, Ila-Orangun. Mr. Adavi Abraham the Auditor 2 composed Unilorin’s anthem and is a Permanent Secretary in the Deputy Governor’s office, Kogi State

In her speech, Oduwaiye encouraged members to rally round for the benefit and development of University of Ilorin as the ties that bind the alumni association together. She said the new executive committee under her leadership would strive in developing initiatives that would bring everybody together so that members from all sphere of life can support, market and promote the best interests of the association and University effectively.
