Businessman Olakunle Churchill has shut down rumours of a rift with his actress wife, Rosy Meurer, amid renewed speculation about their marriage.
Taking to his Instagram page on Tuesday, Churchill questioned why he was trending online, revealing that his wife and children are currently enjoying a summer vacation at Disneyland Paris.
He wrote, “I hear say I dey trend, who cook am? My family dey Disney Paris dey enjoy summer life. Una go wait until menopause come. Meh, I see you. My people, my wife, no get staff or friends, una don make we trend today. Thanks.”
On Wednesday, Rosy also addressed the situation on Instagram, stating that although she doesn’t normally respond to gossip, she needed to speak up for the sake of her children and her reputation. She denied claims of domestic violence in their marriage and defended her husband.
“If you don’t tell your side of the story, they will tell it for you in ways that suit them for the world to believe. It’s the world we find ourselves in. You must speak up for yourself!” she wrote.
“Debunking has never been my thing. I prefer to allow amateurs and jobless, idle minds to think what they want and spread what they choose, cuz they say everyone is entitled to an opinion. Still, because I have a family, I have children, and I have people who look up to me, I choose to speak up for myself. No one is allowed to tell my story. It’s my story, not yours. Only I can tell you what’s happening in my life, and no one else.”
Rosy criticised those spreading false narratives and suggested that some people were hoping to see abuse in her marriage.
“It’s funny when haters wish beating in my marriage, when it is obvious their mothers and sisters will fall victims of massive beatings. I no send anybody banter. Guess the media is never hot for so long, reason why they cook up gist to keep the space busy. Can’t blame them.
“My husband never fit talk wetin dey him mouth finish, let alone beating a woman. Allegations no be by force. My husband is not a woman beater! They just want to permanent the lies of the past which they generated. Kudos.”
This comes after controversial blogger Gistlover made several allegations and asked followers to guess who they were about, with many pointing to Churchill and Rosy.
Since the businessman’s marriage to Rosy Meurer following his high-profile split from actress Tonto Dikeh, the couple has frequently been the subject of controversy.
In August 2023, Gistlover alleged their marriage was on the verge of collapse due to infidelity and domestic violence. The blog claimed Churchill had not been sleeping at home and accused him of physically abusing Rosy, who was portrayed as the family’s breadwinner faking happiness online.
In December, the same blog returned with fresh claims that Churchill was planning to marry singer Lisa Yaro and had physically assaulted Rosy because of her. Churchill further stirred speculation by publicly praising Lisa on his Instagram page.
Despite these recurring rumours, Churchill and Rosy welcomed a baby girl and celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary in December 2023.
Last year, they marked five years of marriage by sharing photos and love messages on social media.
