The son of the late preacher Rev. Uma Ukpai, Daniel Uma Ukpai, has reacted to online reports about the funeral arrangements of his father.
Daniel addressed an alleged funeral announcement on his Facebook page on Monday, which outlined a series of events across Akwa Ibom and Abia states, including medical outreaches, celebration services, tributes and burial services scheduled from March 15 to March 27, 2026.
The announcement was shared on Monday morning by Shekinah Glory TV.
Rev. Uma Ukpai, who died at the age of 80, was widely known for his crusades and distinctive style of preaching.
His death was confirmed on October 6, but was only made public a week later on October 13.
In response to the circulation of the alleged burial plans, Daniel wrote, “It is alarming to see people sharing private details solely for publicity. Why disclose family matters to the public, right? It is advisable to wait for the family to release an official statement before sharing, to prevent misinformation.
“We are still coordinating with stakeholders to finalise the event… which is likely why some of you were not notified about the death earlier – some people are not capable of handling sensitive information.”
Daniel Uma Ukpai’s statement emphasised the family’s need for privacy and cautioned against spreading unverified details.
