Actress Uche Ogbodo has responded to criticism over her continued support for Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedures following the death of socialite Elena Jessica.

Elena reportedly died after complications from a second BBL surgery, sparking debate on social media about cosmetic procedures and safety.

In a video shared on Instagram, Uche said the news of Elena’s death deeply affected her.

“A few days ago, Nigeria was thrown into mourning because we lost a very beautiful woman, Elena Jessica. It’s really sad and painful. I have pondered so much on why that beautiful girl had to die.”

The actress said she had been repeatedly called out online because she has previously spoken about and promoted the procedure.

“People are dragging me that I am promoting BBL despite the fact that a lady just lost her life to it. Yes, BBL is risky, but which surgery isn’t? People d!e from fibroid surgery, C-section, and even headaches.”

Uche maintained that cosmetic surgery should not automatically be condemned, noting that many medical procedures carry risks.

“BBL, yes, is risky. But tell me what sickness is not risky. Tell me what surgery is not risky. People die from things as simple as appendicitis surgery.”

She said her intention is to encourage people to be properly informed before undergoing any procedure.

“Just make sure you are well-informed about the surgery you want. Use a good hospital and a good doctor. Make sure you don’t allow infection to enter your wound and take your aftercare seriously.”

Uche also noted that some women choose body enhancement procedures after childbirth to regain confidence.

“Motherhood is beautiful, but so is choosing to take care of yourself. You deserve to feel good, look good, and love the woman you see in the mirror.”

The debate intensified online after Elena Jessica’s death, with many Nigerians questioning the growing popularity of cosmetic surgery in the country.

Reports say the socialite died after undergoing liposuction and fat transfer during a second BBL procedure and later developed complications.
