Music executive Ubi Franklin is grieving the loss of his sister who died after a battle with cancer.

The Triple MG founder announced her death in an emotional post on social media on Saturday, saying he was heartbroken by the news.

“Today death visited me and took one of the most precious gifts life ever handed to me, my sister,” he wrote. “The one who birthed the Ubi Franklin you all know today. The one who opened my eyes to what life truly is. One of the kindest souls I’ve ever known and I am blessed to call her my sister. CANCER WHY?”

Ubi Franklin narrated how his sister took him in after their father died in 2004 while he was studying law at Madonna University.

“In 2004 while I was a law student in Madonna University, my dad passed and as one of the youngest, I had to go stay with my sister and her husband in Abuja. That trip changed everything. It was the beginning of my journey and the beginning of Ubi Franklin,” he said.

The father of four said his sister was his “backbone” and the person who first called him her personal assistant.

“She never stopped calling me that, even till her last days,” he added.

Ubi revealed that he was with her from April through early July before she returned to Abuja. She was later moved to the ICU on July 12.

“Yesterday, I got a call from my siblings. She had been moved to the ICU. I did everything within my power to make it to Abuja. But while I was airborne, in the early hours of today, she passed on,” he said.

“This is one of the biggest losses of my life. When I landed in Abuja at 4:20 am, she had already passed but it was hidden from me till 4 pm today.”

Despite the pain, the 38-year-old said he was grateful for the time spent with her and for the impact she had on his life.

“Thankful that I got to know her, to walk with her, to be shaped by her. Thankful that I was blessed with such a soul as my sister, my backbone, my rock, my biggest cheerleader,” he wrote.

“And today, as I’ve watched people pour in, all testifying to how kind, selfless, and good she was… I know I am not alone in my grief.”

Ubi concluded the post with a tribute, saying, “This hurts deeply. It has left a scar in my heart. But I will forever love you. And I know… you’re in a better place.”

The late sister’s name has not been made public as of press time.

Ubi Franklin, born Ubi Ekapong Ofem, is known for managing top music talents and has also served as special adviser on tourism to the Cross River State government.
