United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc will host a series of events at the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) holding from September 15 to 25.
A major highlight will be the launch of a whitepaper titled Banking on Africa’s Future: Unlocking Capital and Partnerships for Sustainable Growth.
The document outlines strategies for trade, infrastructure, digital innovation, climate finance and inclusive growth.
UBA said the paper is aimed at providing a roadmap for collaboration between Africa and the global community.
Other activities scheduled by the bank include the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) Roundtable hosted by UBA America and the annual UBA Reception, which will bring together policymakers, world leaders and business executives to discuss investment and development in Africa.
UBA Group chairman, Tony Elumelu, said the bank would ensure that discussions at the event lead to practical outcomes.
“These conversations are fundamentally different from previous discussions because they will be followed by feasible and actionable decisions.”
He added that UBA would use the platform to engage global leaders on Africa’s development.
“UBA will actively work to implement these outcomes for the benefit of the continent, as committed partners in Africa’s development and sustainability.”
UBA Group managing director/CEO, Oliver Alawuba, said the event would reinforce the role of the private sector in driving economic progress on the continent.
UBA operates in 20 African countries as well as the United Kingdom, the United States, France and the United Arab Emirates.
The bank employs about 25,000 people and serves over 45 million customers worldwide.
