Two die as Anthony Joshua survives accident on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

British-Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua was involved in a road accident on Monday along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Makun, Ogun State, according to The Punch.

Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred on a busy stretch of the expressway when the vehicle conveying Joshua, a Lexus Jeep with registration number KRD 850 HN, collided with a stationary truck.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation.

A Punch reporter who was part of the rescue operation said Joshua sustained minor injuries, while two people died at the scene.

Lagos State Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotosho, also confirmed that the accident occurred around the Shagamu Interchange axis of the expressway.

Witnesses told The Punch that Joshua’s vehicle collided with another vehicle under circumstances that are currently being investigated by authorities.

Anthony Joshua, 36, is a British professional boxer and a former unified world heavyweight champion, having held the WBA, IBF and WBO titles between 2016 and 2019 and again from 2019 to 2021.
