“Two days ago, I was deeply honoured to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for Impact Through Visual Storytelling at the 10th edition of NiPHEC – the Nigerian Photography Expo & Conference.

“From capturing still images of everyday life in Abeokuta to documenting the pulse of Yoruba culture through cinema, this journey has always been about more than just the camera.

“It’s about using the lens — still or moving — to tell stories with soul, to preserve who we are, and to give voice to those often unheard.

“I dedicate this award to the people, the culture, and all my collaborators over the decades. You’ve made this journey worthwhile.

“May we all continue to use our art not just to reflect beauty, but to provoke thought, honour heritage, and speak truth to power.
