Filmmaker Toyin Abraham’s movie Oversabi Aunty has emerged as the second highest grossing film at the cinema box office over the weekend and the second highest opening Nollywood film of 2025, grossing N99.8 million, according to distribution group FilmOne.
FilmOne shared the update on its Instagram page on Monday with a poster celebrating the film’s performance. The post read:
“Oversabi Aunty with the Oversabi Box office Number!
A huge thanks to West Africa for making Oversabi Aunty the second-highest grossing film of the weekend and Nollywood’s second-highest opening of 2025.”
Oversabi Aunty was released in cinemas nationwide on December 19. The film is directed and produced by Toyin Abraham and marks her big-screen directorial debut. It blends comedy and family drama with scenes that reflect everyday life and social dynamics.
The story centers on Toun, played by Toyin Abraham, a church usher whose strong belief that she can “fix” other people’s lives leads to humour and conflict within her family.
The cast includes Toyin Abraham alongside Mike Ezuruonye, Efe Irele, Queen Nwokoye, Jemima Osunde, Tana Adelana, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Ngozi Ezeonu and Toyin Afolayan.
