Ayomikun Alabi, the daughter of gospel singer Tope Alabi, has shared a video of herself heavily pregnant in the labour room as she marked International Women’s Day.
The mother of one posted the video clips on her Instagram page on Sunday with a caption reflecting on her experience of childbirth.
“On this bed, between pain and purpose, I became more than I was.
Strength wrapped in a hospital blanket, courage breathing through tired lungs.
A woman stretched by love, refined by sacrifice, and crowned by creation.
Today I celebrate the quiet battles, the unseen tears, the miracles my body carried.
This is not weakness, this is womanhood in its fiercest form.
Happy International Women’s Day to the woman I became.”
Ayomikun welcomed her first child, a baby girl, in January, making the newborn the first grandchild of the gospel singer.
Her mother celebrated the arrival on social media, expressing gratitude to God and joy at becoming a grandmother. She also praised her daughter for embracing motherhood and welcomed the baby into the family.
Ayomikun married her husband Oluwole Bantale in March 2025 in a ceremony attended by family members and close friends.
International Women’s Day is observed annually on March 8 to recognise the achievements of women and draw attention to issues affecting their rights and equality. The day also celebrates the social, economic and cultural contributions of women around the world.
