Media personality Tolu Oniru-Demuren, better known as Toolz, has fired back at social media users who attempted to age-shame her and make sexist remarks about marriage.
An X user on Wednesday had written: “Toolz is 40+ and she is not married.”
Responding sarcastically, the OAP said: “Can you imagine?? Instead of her to goan marry and born children!”
Another troll identified as Lady Raquel also took a swipe at her, writing:
“Toolz, you seff allow a male put you for house so you can serve and obey him and slave away for him na. You don’t care about the male loneliness epidemic? Who’s raising all these selfish women?”
Toolz replied humorously, saying: “My time will soon come o 😫🙏”
The statements by the trolls were, however, false. Toolz has been married to pilot Tunde Demuren since 2016 and the couple have two sons.
This is not the first time Toolz has faced public criticism. In a past interview, she revealed how constant body-shaming almost made her quit her radio career.
“My breaking point happened one morning when I woke up and found out I was trending … waking up to all sorts of horrible body shaming posts made me think that perhaps this career wasn’t for me,” she said.
Born in London on July 6, 1982, Toolz is a descendant of the Oniru royal family of Lagos. She co-hosts Off-Air with Gbemi & Toolz and is one of Nigeria’s most prominent female voices in broadcasting.
