Tony Umez leads Gleams Foundation as new advisory board chairman

Actor Tony Umez has been appointed chairman of the advisory board of Gleams Foundation.

The foundation announced the appointment on its official Instagram page on Tuesday, describing Tony as bringing “depth, perspective, and lived experience to the Gleams Advisory Board.” The post added that his leadership will help anchor the foundation’s work in “legacy, cultural leadership, and long‑term thinking.”

Adeyinka Adebayo was also inaugurated as vice chairman.

Gleams Foundation supports young African creatives through education, training, mentorship and platforms in film, music, fashion, and photography. Its projects include school tours, creative hubs, and the annual Gleams Awards.

Tony Umez has appeared in more than 200 films since his breakout role in Died Wretched in 1998. He holds degrees in English and international law and diplomacy from the University of Lagos.
