Chairman of Heirs Holdings and founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation Tony Elumelu has announced 3,200 beneficiaries for the 2026 entrepreneurship programme.
The announcement was made in Abuja on Sunday.
In a statement, Mr Elumelu said opportunity and prosperity can be created through systems.
“Hope is not just a feeling, it is a system we can build,” he said.
The beneficiaries were selected from 54 African countries.
Each will receive $5,000 as seed capital, along with access to mentorship, business training and the TEFConnect platform.
Elumelu said the foundation has disbursed over $100 million to more than 24,000 entrepreneurs since it started.
He added that businesses supported by the programme have generated over $4.2 billion in revenue and created 1.5 million jobs.
He said the programme has also impacted more than four million households across Africa.
According to him, women make up 51 percent of this year’s beneficiaries.
“When opportunity is accessible, African women do not simply participate, they lead,” he said.
Elumelu said the foundation aims to expand access to opportunities by investing in people across the continent.
The Tony Elumelu Foundation provides training, funding, mentorship and access to networks for entrepreneurs across Africa.
