United Bank for Africa (UBA) Group chairman and founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, Tony Elumelu, has begun a tour of East, Central and Southern Africa to promote entrepreneurship, infrastructure development and inclusive growth.

According to a statement by the bank, the visit will cover Kenya, Republic of Congo (Brazzaville), Uganda, Zambia, Mozambique, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Mr Elumelu is expected to meet with presidents of the countries, policymakers, business leaders and young innovators to discuss strategies for infrastructure financing, digital inclusion and youth-led entrepreneurship.

“Africa’s story is one of immense potential, and it is time we take ownership of it,” Elumelu said.

“Through this tour, UBA is not just visiting these nations; we are igniting partnerships that will drive real impact. We must build resilient foundations together by empowering entrepreneurs, bridging infrastructure gaps, and creating shared prosperity.”

The initiative builds on UBA’s efforts to support Africa’s economic growth.

The bank recently launched a white paper titled “Banking on Africa’s Future: Unlocking Capital and Partnerships for Sustainable Growth,” which calls for increased investment in green assets and human capital.

UBA said the tour comes as Africa’s GDP is projected to reach $2.6 trillion by 2030, driven by telecommunications, education technology and consumer goods.

The bank aims to facilitate $50 billion in trade and investment flows over the next five years through strengthened partnerships.

UBA operates in 20 African countries and global markets in the US, UK, France and the UAE.
