Actress-turn-politician Tonto Dikeh has reflected on her short-lived music career with a mix of humour and regret.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, the 40-year-old shared a clip of herself singing the gospel tune ‘God is Good All the Time’ while joking about her inability to sing.

She wrote: “If I could sing ehn, una for don dey sick of me… Like you don’t even understand, Likkeeeeeeeeeeee who is Tiwa? Who is Whitney, who is CeCe Winans? Taaaaahhhhhhh 😂😂😂😂

“Watching this video reminds me of the time I had the worst kind of friends who pushed me to release album… Look sneeze/sniper and co your bedroom is been reserved in hell..😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🥰🥰🥰😂😂😂😂😂😂🥰😂😩😩

“Moral of this lesson choose your friends wisely, more importantly be wise😂💃🏾🤗.”

The mother of one’s post sparked laughter from fans who recalled her brief foray into the music industry.

Tonto joined the music scene in 2012 when she released her debut singles ‘Hi’ and ‘Itz Ova.’

She later recorded songs like ‘Crazically Fit’ featuring Terry G, ‘Jeje,’ ‘Sheba’ featuring Solid Star, ‘Ekebe’ and ‘Sugar Rush’ featuring D’banj.

In June 2014, the actress was signed to D’banj’s DB Records but left the label less than a year later.

Her music career was met with heavy criticism, with many describing her sound as off-key. The actress later admitted that she failed in music but said she had no regrets.

“I failed woefully in music. But I still don’t regret it,” she once said in an interview. “When I say I failed in music, it is not because my music was not good. I think I lost the confidence to move on. Music is consistency. If I had continued, I would have made good music.”

Tonto, who is now more focused on politics and philanthropy, has continued to make light of her musical past, often using it as a reminder about growth and making better choices.
