Actor Tobi Bakre has shaved his head for a film role.
On Tuesday, the 31-year-old shared a video from the set showing a barber cutting off his hair. He revealed that he is working alongside his mentor Lateef Adedimeji in the movie.
He captioned the post, “An actors body is only but a tool!
A canvass for one of the best artist ever @hakeemeffect
Working with one of my mentors @adedimejilateef ! This one is special.”
Tobi didn’t reveal the name of the movie.
Tobi rose to public attention after appearing on Big Brother Naija and has since built a steady acting career in Nollywood. His film credits include Gangs of Lagos, Brotherhood and The Blood Covenant.
Shaving hair or going completely bald for a role is not unusual in Nollywood. Actress Kemi Lala Akindoju shaved her head for her role in Dazzling Mirage, where she portrayed a character living with sickle cell disorder.
Toyin Abraham has also gone bald for a movie role, a transformation that generated strong reactions online after videos from the set showed her shaved head for a character that required a bald appearance.
Yvonne Jegede similarly shaved her head last year for a movie role.
