Singer Tiwa Savage has finally spoken about her long-running feud with fellow artiste Seyi Shay, years after their public confrontation.
Speaking during an interview on Off Air with Gbemi O and Toolz, Tiwa explained that the misunderstanding between her and Seyi Shay stemmed from a diss track and allegations that she had tried to block opportunities for other female artistes.
Tiwa, however, denied ever attempting to sabotage anyone’s career, insisting that she has always been supportive of women in the industry.
“If you do something to me, I will let you know. I don’t have to let you know online. Like the whole shade thing, I’m not going to pretend like you and I are cool in a salon when you did a diss track,” she said.
The singer added that she was shocked when she first heard about the alleged diss and accusations that she had tried to “block bags” for other artistes, including Seyi Shay and Victoria Kimani.
Tiwa and Seyi Shay made headlines in June 2021 after they clashed at a salon in Lagos. A video of the altercation went viral, showing Tiwa warning Seyi Shay not to greet her because of things she allegedly said about her in the past.
At the time, Seyi Shay had released a song and freestyle with Kenyan singer Victoria Kimani, both of which took subtle shots at Tiwa. The move reportedly deepened the rift between the two.
Seyi Shay recently shed more light on the cause of their fallout. During a separate appearance on the OffAir Show, Seyi claimed the misunderstanding may have stemmed from a former personal assistant who allegedly had an affair with Tiwa’s estranged husband, Tunji ‘Tee Billz’ Balogun.
Tiwa Savage divorced TeeBillz in 2018.
