Singer Tiwa Savage has clarified her recent comment about being open to becoming a second wife, saying her words were misinterpreted and she has no genuine interest in polygamy.
According to the ‘Somebody’s Son’ crooner, her statement came from a place of emotional painand not a real desire to engage in a polygamous marriage.
Tiwa explained that her past experiences with love have left her with emotional scars, and being the only wife to her ex-husband did not guarantee a lasting marriage.
She said: “I was a first wife, where did that get me? I got married as the only wife but here we are. I’m tired of being heartbroken; maybe I’m getting it wrong. Maybe I should try being a second wife.”
The mother of one, however, emphasised that being a second wife is not her choice and she would not want to be in such a situation.
“It’s not my choice, though. I don’t want to. I wish I could tell my truth, but I will be dragged,” she said.
Tiwa was married to her former manager Tunji Balogun, popularly known as Teebillz, in 2013.
The union, which produced a son named Jamil, ended in 2018 after a highly publicised fallout.
