Tinubu returns to Abuja after attending Pope’s inauguration in Rome

President Bola Tinubu returned to Abuja on Tuesday evening after participating in the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV in Rome, Italy.

The president arrived at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at approximately 6:50 p.m. He was received by senior government officials and other dignitaries.

During his visit, Tinubu attended the inaugural mass of Pope Leo XIV, the 267th Pontiff of the Catholic Church, marking a significant milestone in the Vatican’s history.

While in Rome, the President held discussions with members of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, emphasising the need for leaders to prioritise the welfare of the people and leverage the nation’s diversity for progress.

“If we use our diversity not for adversity but for prosperity, the country’s hope is stability and progress,” Tinubu stated.

The president described his presence at the historic event as a privilege, noting that being the leader of Nigeria during the inauguration of a new Pope underscored the importance of unity and leadership.

Members of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria were part of President Tinubu’s delegation to the installation mass.
