President Bola Tinubu has nominated Dr Bernard Doro from Plateau State as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
The nomination was contained in a letter sent to the Senate for confirmation, according to a statement by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga on Tuesday.
Doro is to replace Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, who became the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July. Yilwatda previously served as minister of humanitarian affairs and poverty reduction before assuming his new role in the party.
Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Bernard Doro has more than two decades of experience spanning healthcare, pharmaceuticals, business strategy, and community leadership in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
He holds degrees in pharmacy and law, an MBA focused on IT-driven business strategy, and a master’s in advanced clinical practice.
Doro is also an independent prescriber and advanced clinical practitioner with frontline experience in the UK’s National Health Service, including work in urgent care, walk-in centres, general practice, and hospitals.
Beyond his professional career, he has been involved in youth mentorship and social impact projects both in Nigeria and among the diaspora.
