Former Jigawa State governor Sule Lamido has denied claims that he was invited by President Bola Tinubu or any member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the party.
Mr Lamido, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said he was not aware of any invitation.
“When was I invited? Let me know, please. Did he send you to me? I’m hearing this from you for the first time,” he said.
He also dismissed claims linking him with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), saying the reports were from social media.
“In this era of social media and content creation, anything is possible. People sit in their rooms and create stories. I have not seen such pictures,” he said.
Lamido said he is open to meeting the president if the opportunity comes, adding that such a meeting would be in national interest.
“I will be more than willing. So, when are we going to see him?” he said.
He urged Nigerians to reflect on their electoral choices, noting that leadership outcomes follow voters’ decisions.
“When we were campaigning, we urged Nigerians to vote right, with integrity and conscience. People voted, and whatever you put in is what you get out,” he added.
Sule Lamido also congratulated Muslims on Eid al-Fitr and called for prayers for peace, unity and stability in the country.
