President Bola Tinubu has presented the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Abubakar Dantsoho with the Award of Excellence in Maritime Infrastructure Modernization & Global Competitiveness.
The presentation took place on Sunday at the Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS) held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The award is part of a presidential initiative coordinated by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to recognise public servants for their performance.
Dr. Dantsoho was recognised for his role in advancing efficiencies in Nigerian ports that contributed to national trade outcomes and growth in exports.
He also played a role in the implementation of the National Single Window through the Port Community System, which has facilitated port operations and trade processes.
The award also acknowledged his efforts in attracting global investment in the modernisation of Nigeria’s port infrastructure and equipment and in strengthening Nigeria’s presence in international maritime bodies.
This includes Nigeria’s presidency of the Port Management Association of West Africa (PMAWCA) and the vice-presidency of the International Association of Ports & Harbors (IAPH).
Under the guidance of the Minister of Marine & Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, Dantsoho supported Nigeria’s re-enlistment into Category C of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
The NEAPS award programme aims to publicly recognise and reward public servants who meet performance benchmarks in their respective offices.
