President Bola Tinubu has extended his condolences to Yemi Edun, CEO of Daniel Ford International and his family following the death of their matriarch, Olufunmilayo Edun.

In a statement released on Tuesday by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu urged the Edun family to take solace in the “remarkable” life Mrs. Edun lived.

President Tinubu prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed and asked the “Almighty God” to comfort and strengthen the Edun family during this period of mourning.

Yemi Edun, a UK-based Nigerian entrepreneur and philanthropist, has made significant contributions to youth development and cultural exchange.

He sponsored the Under-18 Daniel Ford International Table Tennis Championships held in Lagos, a two-day tournament aimed at promoting grassroots sports and identifying emerging talent.

The event earned recognition from the International Table Tennis Federation.

In addition to his sports philanthropy, Edun has played a role in promoting Nigerian literature and culture abroad.

He recently hosted Wole Soyinka at a high-profile book reading event in London, featuring Soyinka’s latest novel Chronicles From the Land of The Happiest People on Earth.

The event, held at the British Library Knowledge Centre, was attended by dignitaries including Nigeria’s high commissioner to the UK, ambassador Sarafa Ishola.
