President Bola Tinubu, Ogun State governor Dapo Abiodun and pastor Enoch Adeboye on Monday celebrated former governor Gbenga Daniel on his 70th birthday.

In a statement, President Tinubu said Mr Daniel has contributed to national development through his work in the public and private sectors.

“Today, I celebrate Senator Gbenga Daniel… on his milestone 70th birthday,” he said.

Tinubu also recalled their political relationship, saying Daniel worked with him ahead of the 1999 Lagos State governorship election.

He noted that Daniel founded Kresta Laurel in 1990 and later served as governor of Ogun State from 2003.

The president said Daniel initiated projects in the state, including an airport and a university.
Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, also celebrated Daniel.

Governor Abiodun, represented by his deputy Noimot Salako-Oyedele said the former governor contributed to governance in the state.

He added that Daniel, now a senator representing Ogun East, has continued to serve in the National Assembly.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God Enoch Adeboye also spoke at a thanksgiving service held in Sagamu.

Pastor Adeboye said Daniel kept his relationship with the church and fulfilled his promises while in office.

“Our beloved Gbenga Daniel was a governor in Ogun State… I want to say that Otunba Gbenga Daniel has been quite exceptional,” he said.

He said Daniel did not mix politics with the church and kept to his commitments.

“I respect you, sir. The Redeemed Christian Church of God respects you and wishes you a happy 70th birthday,” Adeboye added.

Gbenga Daniel, speaking at the event, thanked God for his life and said he remains committed to service.

“I feel that I have not served the state in vain… I will continue to serve the people with the rest of my life,” he said.

He also asked Nigerians to support President Tinubu.
