Timini Egbuson’s Love and New Notes becomes first Nollywood film of 2026 to cross N100m

Filmmaker Timini Egbuson’s film Love and New Notes has grossed over N100 million at the box office, becoming the first Nollywood film released in 2026 to reach the mark.

Distribution group FilmOne announced the milestone on Monday with a poster shared on Instagram.

Timini reshared the poster along with a message which read, “All the glory must be to the lord.

Love and New Notes opened in cinemas nationwide on February 13, as part of the Valentine season releases. The film was directed by Kayode Kasum and produced by Timini.

The story is set against the backdrop of Nigeria’s 1984 currency change and follows characters navigating love and personal struggles during a period of economic uncertainty.

The cast includes Odunlade Adekola, Sophie Alakija and Eniola Badmus among others.
