Timini Egbuson rejoices as Reel Love joins Nollywood’s top 10 openings after Akindele’s Omo Ghetto

Actor Timini Egbuson has expressed excitement and gratitude as his Valentine-themed film Reel Love joined the list of top 10 highest-grossing opening weekends in Nollywood history, ranking just after Funke Akindele’s blockbuster Omo Ghetto: The Saga.

On Instagram on Wednesday, the A Tribe Called Judah star shared a chart by NGAboxoffice showing Reel Love at number four with N95,077,149.

He wrote: “I have the best support system anyone could ask for. Can you see where REEL LOVE is sitting on that list?

“Following my mentor @funkejenifaakindele closely as an executive producer.

“Also blessed to be in 3 of the movies on the top 4.

“And 4 of the movies on the top 10 list.

“I’m still super grateful for all the love you showed my Valentine baby, next February WE GO AGAIN and HARDER.

“Thank you Jesus.”

Reel Love was released in cinemas on February 14, after a premiere in Lagos on February 9. The romantic drama directed by Kayode Kasum and written by Ife Olujuyigbe stars Timini Egbuson, TJ Omusuku, Atlanta Johnson, Funke Akindele, Bimbo Ademoye, Shaffy Bello and Dakore Egbuson-Akande.

The film follows Tomide Jobi, a relationship influencer whose fake romance with another content creator spirals out of control after a viral video turns his love life into public drama.

Reel Love grossed N99.3 million in its first weekend and over N303 million after five weeks, ranking among the top-grossing Nollywood films of 2025.

Timini, who also featured in Everybody Loves Jenifa, A Tribe Called Judah and Omo Ghetto: The Saga, said he remains thankful for his supporters as he looks forward to his next project.
