A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the remand of a TikToker, Saheed Jamiu, popularly known as Osama and one Uyime Godwin Udoekwere for allegedly defaming Omowunmi Aloba, widow of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad.

Justice Ibrahim Kala gave the remand order after the duo were arraigned by the police on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, cyberstalking and defamation.

According to the police, the defendants committed the offence between July 4 and 5, 2025 in the Ikeja area of Lagos by displaying a placard bearing the words: “Wunmi killed Mohbad! Period! E no go better for Wunmi,” a statement the prosecution said was intended to injure the reputation of the late singer’s wife.

They were also accused of using their social media pages to spread the alleged libellous content.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 24(1)(a)(b)(2) and 27(1)(b)(2) of the Cybercrimes Act, 2015.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Their lawyer, Ademola Olabiyi, asked the court to grant them bail, arguing that the defendants were responsible individuals who would not interfere with investigations. But Justice Kala refused the oral application and directed that a formal bail application be made.

He then ordered that the defendants be remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre pending the hearing of the bail application.

The case was adjourned to September 25 for the commencement of trial.

Wunmi has been the subject of several online allegations since the sudden death of her husband in September 2023. In October that year, she granted an interview denying any involvement in Mohbad’s death, insisting her husband was never at peace due to threats from people he once called family.

Mohbad, a former signee of Marlian Music owned by Naira Marley, died at the age of 27 under controversial circumstances. His death sparked protests and nationwide calls for justice.
